A heart-shaped envelope folded from one square, with a white border around a coloured heart. It starts from a square base, then a few simple folds shape the heart.
Use paper with a coloured back and start with the white side up: the heart comes out in the back colour. Fold in half corner to corner, then unfold.
Fold in half along the other diagonal, then unfold.
Turn the paper over.
Fold in half edge to edge, then unfold.
Fold in half the other way, then unfold.
Bring the side corners down to the bottom corner and flatten into a square base.
Turn the square base so the open end points up.
Fold the top point of the front layer down, stopping a little above the bottom point.
Turn the paper over.
Do the same on this side.
Fold the top point of each side flap down and out to the side. These make the round tops of the heart.
Fold the two top points behind a little to round the heart.
Tuck a small folded note between the layers at the back. Your heart envelope is done.
One square of paper with a coloured back, white on the other side. 15 cm (6 inch) origami paper is ideal.
