A flat sunflower with eight petals and a green stem with a leaf. The flower is four corner folds and four petal folds; the stem is a thin kite folded in half.
You need a yellow square for the flower and a green one for the stem. Fold the yellow one in half both ways, then unfold.
Fold all four corners to the centre.
Fold the point of each flap back out, so it sticks out past the edge. These are the petals.
For the stem, fold two edges of the green square to its diagonal, like a kite.
Fold the same edges to the diagonal again to make it thinner.
Fold the stem in half along the diagonal.
Stand the stem up and slide its top under the flower.
Fold the bottom of the stem up and out to the side to make a leaf.
Colour the middle brown if you like. Your sunflower is done.
Two squares of paper: one yellow for the flower and one green for the stem. 15 cm (6 inch) origami paper is ideal.
It is rated easy and takes 8 steps. It is one of the simpler models on the site.
